Hello and welcome to JADa’s Buying Guide
When preparing for the arrival of your new-born there are so many things to think about along with what to buy for your little one.
Thinking about whether you want to get a basic baby monitor or if you want all the modern attachments that come with it.
Hopefully I can help you with making the right decision that will fit both you and your baby.
It is important that you are happy with your purchase. I have listed some features that you can consider when making this choice.
Features to Think About:
Video or Audio?
In the early days of you babies life you may not need to consider having a video feature, but has baby gets older you may find this feature useful.
So it is a good idea to think about the video feature now, to save having to buy another baby monitor down the line. You don’t want to have to be thinking about changing it say, in a year or so.
Video cameras will allow you to keep an eye on older babies and toddlers that are starting to move around and stand up.
On the other hand some parents prefer the audio option because it prevents them from stressing out about every little movement that baby makes.
Built-In Temperature Control
This is a really important feature due to the strict guidelines about what the room temperature should be to reduce the risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). With this feature it will make it easier to make adjustments to your baby’s clothing and the thermostat.
If you like a baby monitor that does not come with this feature you can always get around this by obtaining a device such as GRo Egg.
Movement Sensor
This feature is often found on high-end models. It is a pad that is placed under the mattress to alert you when no movement has been detected for an extended period.
Two-Way Communication
This is a feature that is not used that often and should not make the difference of your buying a baby monitor or not.
You can speak to another person on the other end and they can speak back to you. Or you can speak to your baby when they are awake.
Lullabies and Songs
This is a really good feature but yet again it is not necessary, so if your choice of baby monitor does not have this feature you could always play lullabies and songs through your iPod, tablet and or smart phone. Oh and let’s not forget the old style CD player.
High Quality Night Vision
This is important because if you are buying a video monitor it goes without saying that they baby’s room will be dark when they are sleeping.
