5 Useful Ways To Training With A Weighted Vest

Today I am going to show 5 useful ways you can train using a weighted vest and how you can get the best out of using it.
Just to let you know that you do not have to be a professional athlete to use one. I am by no way a professional athlete. Lol
I use my weighted vest so that I can do less and still gain the benefits.
You can use a weighted vest daily with your activities and workout routine and by doing so your will increase your metabolic rate. This means that you will burn more calories. Now that has got to be a good thing.
By wearing a weight vest you will be increasing the intensity of your workout routine and or activity.
What I like most is that I can increase the intensity over time.
You can start light, say 5lbs to 10lbs and gradually increase the weight to 20lbs to 30lbs (intermediate).
For the most advanced level routine, you could go to 10lbs to 50lbs weighted vest.
Here are few designs of weighted vests from the lightest to heaviest.

1. You Can Wear A Weighted Vest Doing Body Weight Exercises
You can take your body weight exercise to the next level without changing your routine. All you have to do is add a weight vest to turn your body weight exercise into a more difficult routine.
Example exercises
- Treadmill
- Exercise bike
- Push ups
- Pull ups
- Squats
- Lunges
- Sit ups
- Planks
2. You Can Go On Walks and Hikes Wearing A Weighted Vest
You can go on walks and hike with a weight vest. You could simply wear it under clothing such as, shirt or under your coat.
You are not just limited to wearing a weighted vest whilst going on walks or hikes, you can also use it whilst:
- Walking up and down stairs
- Walking around your home
- Walking around your office
- Walking around the park
- Walking around your neighbourhood
I have used my weighted vest walking to my local shops. Why? Because wearing my weighted vest helps me to burn more calories.
3. You Can Ride A Bike With A Weighted Vest
You can ride a bike wearing your weighted vest and the good thing is that you can either ride your bike outdoors or you can ride your exercise bike inside.
Outdoor bike riding
When bicycle riding outdoors you can really get a good workout with the transition from uphill to downhill, when you change position from seated to standing.
This is a great upper body workout.
Indoor bike riding
When using a stationary bike to do your workout routine, wearing a weighted vest
You can:
- Warm up for 1 mile
- Do alternate standing and seated in 30 seconds intervals and repeat.
- Cool down 1 mile
This is a real game changer.
4. You can Wear A Weighted Vest Doing Your Household Chores
You can wear a weighted vest daily whilst doing your household chores, such as,
- Gardening
- Laundry
- Walking up and down stairs
- Cleaning the house
You can get really creative with this. With the added weight from the weighted vest, you will burn more calories and help to tone your body.
Wearing a weighted vest whilst doing household chores is one of the simplest ways to start getting the benefits of using a weight vest.
5. Weight Training With A Weighted Vest
You can make your weight training session more intense by adding a weighted vest, such as,
- Barbell rows
- Deadlifts
- Bench Presses
To name a few.
